With more than 9,000 workers commuting to Case and University Hospital and 14,000 to the Cleveland Clinic, and with crowds flocking to see the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall or to view an exhibit at one of its half-dozen museums, University Circle is easily the second largest employment center and the cultural heart of Cleveland.
The old guard institutions, built from the largesse of Cleveland’s industrial giants, are beginning to share space with new visionaries who want to bring a thriving urban campus to life in and around Euclid Avenue. Pieces are coming together. Below are links to just some of the plans, developments and ideas in the works for University Circle.
This site is inspired by the memory of Richard Shatten, a former board member of EcoCity Cleveland,
who pushed Northeast Ohio to think strategically about regionalism and sustainability.
