In following the tenets of Islamic Scripture and the common sense of living a responsible life, the Islamic Center of Cleveland understands that sustainability is important, and one day may take on more direct action in protecting the environment through educating the congregation.

Mission

Excesses of all sorts are forbidden in Islam. Furthermore, civic values, good sense and certain edicts found in scripture explain that sustainability is the right thing to do.

• The Islamic Center of Cleveland is trying to reduce energy usage in its building.
• In remodeling their domes they are adding more insulation.
• They use Compact Fluorescent light bulbs.
• They dim the incandescent bulbs that are in use to reduce the amount of energy being used.
• They lowered the fan speed of their air conditioning unit.
