Perhaps the most complete assessment of water quality for streams in Greater Cleveland is done by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. District personnel do regular chemical and biological sampling of nearshore lake Erie, the Cuyahoga River, and 17 other waterways located in the district's service area.
The most recent data has been summarized in the district's Greater Cleveland Area Environmental Water Quality Assessment Report for 1999-2002 (published November 2006). This report contains not only water quality data, but maps and photos of all the streams (which is important for some of the small streams because it's often hard to know where culverted portions run underground).
To obtain the report on CD, call 216-641-6000 or email a request to John Rhoades, supervisor of environmental assessment.
