Economic Transformations Group was selected this week by the Cleveland Office of Sustainability and the Sustainable Cleveland 2019 Council to be the lead consultant in creating a strategic plan for SC2019.
ETG's sustainability related consulting work sounds impressive. On its web site, ETG cites its work on Sustainable Rural Economic Clustering in Mexico and support of the micro-region initiative among the rural women in the state of Tabasco.
"These mostly poor farmers are rapidly organizing Cajas de Ahorro, or local savings groups, locally managed and directed so that loans can be made to neighboring families," ETG writes.
Eric Hansen, President and Founder of ETG, worked at MIT, the World Bank and Stanford planning and organizing economic clusters. Helping Hansen with the Tabasco project (and with him on a recent visit to Cleveland) was Myan Baker.
ETG expects to hire a number of local firms to round out its team. As promised by the city, ETG will meet with 2019 Work Groups and incorporate their goals and projects into the strategic plan. The city expects ETG to complete the strategic plan by July, and to make it the central organizing tool of the 2010 summit which will be held at Public Hall on September 22 and 23.
