Forum on grassroots grantmaking

Foundation Center Cleveland invites nonprofits, foundations, and organizations of all kinds to explore grassroots grantmaking and citizen engagement at a free forum on April 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. "Citizens at the Center: The Power of Grassroots Grantmaking" will address:

  • Increasing leadership capacity of neighborhood residents to drive community change
  • Elevating citizen-led initiatives and visions for change to the center of planning discussions
  • Building connections that boost citizen influence
  • Catalyzing citizen action and participation in the process of neighborhood transformation
Presenter is Janis Foster Richardson, executive director of Grassroots Grantmakers, a network of place-based funders in the United States and Canada. Featured guests include Debra Lewis-Curlee, executive director of Mt. Pleasant Community Zone; Tom O'Brien, program director of Neighborhood Connections; and Joel Ratner, president and chief executive officer of Neighborhood Progress Inc.

The program will be held at Idea Center at Playhouse Square, 1375 Euclid Ave., in the Grasselli Brown teaching lab.
