Green building tour: Cleveland Sight Center
The reactions are all positive from visitors to employees. And now it's our turn. The Chapter is excited to offer this tour of one of the country's leading medical and rehabilitation vision centers - the Cleveland Sight Center! The CSC serves as a national design model for how a building can factor in the unique needs of the visually impaired community and better serve their clients and staff. The CSC proudly renovated their existing 75,000 square foot space and earned LEED Gold in the commercial interiors criteria in October 2012. The $10 million renovation project makes efficient use of the existing space. There are no talking walls to assist clients but rather the use of color, texture, accoustics, wayfinding signage, sensors, lighting techniques and furnishings.
We will explore the facility's client services area, new auditorium, 27 station call center, physical activity room, daycare and collaboration spaces. Eighty percent of the construction waste was diverted, thirty percent of water use was reduced and the center earned 2 years of renewable energy credits for power needs. Facilitating this presentation will be the team from CSC and Vocon. And we are pleased to partnering with ASID Northern Ohio Chapter to offer this event. We strongly encourage interior design students from area colleges and universities to attend.
Cost: NEO Chapter Members & Students no cost / Non - Members $10 each Keep the sustainability knowledge going by making a 2nd stop at Cleveland Green Drinks / Corporate Sustainability Roundtable night at Great Lakes Brewing Company starting right after the tour!
