Future for Birds in a Changing Climate
Presentation by Audubon Chief Scientist Dr. Gary Langham.
Langham and his team have been working on a detailed scientific study, based in part on Audubon Christmas Bird Count and Breeding Bird survey data, that quantifies the risk that climate change poses to North America's birds in a greater level of detail and clarity than anyone has been able to predict so far. We already know climate change is a very serious threat to our birds; this report provides details on which birds are most threatened by climate change and where. This "field guide to the future" for birds under various climate change emissions scenarios will offer some important insights as to how we can use adaptation and mitigation strategies to lessen the impact of climate change on birds—and people.
