Sheep and Goat Grazing Workshop

This free workshop will walk would-be urban farmers through starting a grazing project using small ruminants to leverage the environmental, economic, and social benefits associated with grazing sheep and goats for land management. After the workshop, Urban Shepherds will help participants assess sites that they have in mind and help them prepare for grazing, determining stocking density, rotational grazing patterns, and other management concerns. In the spring, Urban Shepherds is planning a day of training (on Saturday, May 16) in an all-day training class at which participants work with sheet in the afternoon. Participants will learn how to care for their flock during the grazing season under the supervision of a professional shepherd.
