Where do I find local food?
When you bite into a ripe red Juneberry or a crisp fall apple from a farmer’s market, you taste what’s deeply satisfying about local food. Now that you’re hooked, you want to know, where do I find this stuff everyday? How do I cook with kohlrabi, snap peas and garlic scapes? What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? Is local food really better?
On this page, you’ll find resources to guide you in finding local food, what to do with it and how we can spread the joy of eating locally.

Localfoodcleveland — A network of growers and eaters of local food. Maps of farmer’s markets, CSAs, restaurants, caterers and retailers in Northeast Ohio serving local food (under Local Food Guide).
2012 Farmer’s Market Directory — The Plain Dealer printed a list of the farmer’s markets operating in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit and Wayne counties.
Slow Food Northern Ohio — A volunteer local chapter of Slow Food, celebrating local, seasonal flavors; promoting awareness of local foods, farms and culinary traditions; and cultivating meaningful connections between farmers, gardeners, chefs, producers, cooks, eaters, and all members of the local food community.
Cleveland has a rich heritage of heirloom fruits. Johnny Appleseed who planted tens of thousands of apples, with Ohio as the core area, left a legacy. We still have about 3,500 apple varieties, in large part, because of farmer's markets and CSAs.
